The historic de Witt Cottage, the Virginia Beach Oceanfront’s oldest, private standing structure, was constructed in 1895 as a house of love for Bernard P. Holland, Sr. (first mayor of Virginia Beach) and his blushing bride, Emily. Now 125 years and two pandemics later, the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum and the Back Bay Wildfowl Guild, caretakers of the Cottage, want love to blossom again with a “Salute to Heroes” wedding venue giveaway.
Heroes eligible to enter the giveaway include nurses, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, law enforcement officers and active duty US military members. Five lucky brides or grooms, working in one of these professions and employed or residing in Virginia Beach, will be selected to have their wedding at the historic de Witt Cottage in 2021 with the rental fee being waived. Interested couples may enter or be nominated beginning November 1, 2020 at www.thedewittcottage.org. Entries/Nominations end on December 31, 2020.
