Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton Deliver Incredible Mashup of ‘Wrecking Ball’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’

Miley and Dolly Parton rang in 2023 co-hosting the second annual Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party in Miami.

The pair performed an incredible medley of “Wrecking Ball” and “I Will Always Love You” and fans are calling it one of the greatest performances of all time.

Dolly released the original version of “I Will Always Love You” in 1973.  The country music legend penned the song in honor of her longtime business partner and collaborator Porter Wagoner as she embarked on a solo career.

Dolly famously turned down Elvis Presley’s request to record his own version when his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, demanded that Elvis receive a hefty portion of the publishing rights to the song.

â€œI wanted to hear Elvis sing it, and it broke my heart I cried all night,” Dolly told CMT in a 2006 interview.  “But I had to keep that copyright in my pocket. You have to take care of your business. Everybody’s going to use you if they can. These are my songs. They’re like my children. And I expect them to support me when I’m old.”

Nearly 20 years later, Whitney Houston recorded the song for the soundtrack to the 1992 film The Bodyguard. Houston’s version was a smash hit, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later receiving a Grammy for Record of the Year.
