Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Tuesday! The couple shared snaps from the proposal on Instagram, captioning it, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The caption was punctuated with a TNT emoji. Get it? Taylor and Travis.
They set the post to “So High School” from her Tay’s The Tortured Poets Department album — a song inspired by their romance.
The two started dating in the summer of 2023 and went public that September, when Taylor attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game. Rumors of an engagement have been swirling for a few weeks following her appearance on New Heights, the podcast Travis co-hosts with his brother Jason.
A Cleveland TV station and an Australian radio show got the inside scoop on Travis Kelce’s proposal to Taylor Swift thanks to Travis’s dad, Ed.
Ed Kelce told News 5 that, “Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” Ed Kelce said. “He was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”
Ed Kelce remembered being at a Philadelphia Eagles football practice when Travis called with the news (quote) “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew.”
“To watch the two of them, just crazy about each other. It’s truly kinda neat,” he added.
