The Connie Orlando Foundation Presents Black Women in Music Dinner honored Chaka Khan, Kelly Rowland, Fatima Robinson, Gail Mitchell, and Natina Nimene at its second annual gathering in June 2026.
The event recognized Black women whose work has helped shape music through performance, choreography, journalism, leadership, and cultural influence. Khan was celebrated for a career that has crossed soul, funk, R&B, and pop for decades. Rowland was honored for her work as a solo artist and as a member of one of the most successful vocal groups of her generation.
Robinson’s recognition reflected her long record of shaping movement and visual storytelling for major artists. Mitchell and Nimene were also honored for contributions that have helped guide music coverage, talent development, and industry leadership.
The dinner focused on legacy, visibility, and the many ways Black women continue to build music culture, both in front of audiences and behind the scenes.
