A federal judge sentenced Dr. Salvador Plasencia to 30 months in prison Wednesday for distributing ketamine to Matthew Perry before the actor’s 2023 overdose death. Plasencia apologized to Perry’s family in Los Angeles federal court, stating “I failed Mr. Perry. I failed his family. I should have protected him.” The doctor pleaded guilty in July to four counts of ketamine distribution but did not provide the fatal dose. Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett rejected defense claims that Plasencia intended to treat Perry’s depression, saying he sought “to exploit Mr. Perry’s addiction for your own profit.” Prosecutors noted Plasencia earned $55,000 from Perry and had texted “I wonder how much this moron will pay” when discussing ketamine requests. Perry’s mother Suzanne Morrison told the court “This was a bad thing you did.” Four other defendants await sentencing. (Story URL)
