Last month, a woman who goes by “Romeo” on TikTok (@RomeosShow) posted a short, playful video singing what she called a new “theme song” for Dr Pepper. It wasn’t a polished production or a carefully planned campaign — just Romeo casually singing, “Dr Pepper baby. It’s good and nice. Doo, doo, doo.”
In the caption, Romeo joked that she had to post the song before someone else dreamed it up and took credit for it. She tagged Dr Pepper directly and added, “Please get back to me with a proposition. We can make thousands together.”
The internet did the rest.
The video quickly exploded, racking up more than 42 million views, five million likes, and over 400,000 bookmarks. Viewers couldn’t get the jingle out of their heads — and neither could Dr Pepper.
The brand commented on the video, “Hold on… you might be onto something,” and then proved they meant it.
This week, Dr Pepper unveiled a brand-new commercial built around Romeo’s jingle. The ad features her original vocals layered over instrumental beats that highlight the now-viral lyrics. The company shared the spot with the caption, “A song written by @RomeosShow about the 23 flavors of Dr Pepper? It’s a Pepper thing.”
The commercial aired during the College Football Playoff National Championship game on Monday — a massive platform for a song that started as a spontaneous TikTok.
Romeo reacted with pure excitement, posting her own celebratory video saying, “THANK YOU GUYYYSSS. THAT WAS AWESOME. I LOVE YOU.”
