If you’re looking for a dog who can turn an ordinary afternoon into the best game of fetch you’ve ever played, allow me to introduce Roux.
Roux is a 4-year-old Border Collie available for adoption through Bully Advocate and Rescue Collective, and he has one mission in life: chase the ball, bring back the ball, and then do it all over again.
Seriously. If there were an Olympic event for fetch, Roux would be bringing home the gold medal.
Like many Border Collies, Roux is intelligent, active, and eager to engage with his people. He thrives when he has a job to do, and his favorite job just happens to be retrieving tennis balls. Whether you’re in the backyard, at the park, or simply tossing a toy across the living room, Roux is ready to play.
One thing that makes Roux special is that he’s deaf.
But don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s limited in any way. Deaf dogs can learn hand signals, routines, and visual cues remarkably well. In fact, many deaf dogs form incredibly strong bonds with their families because they rely on visual communication and trust. Roux is a perfect example of a dog who doesn’t let his hearing loss slow him down one bit.
Roux gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy having canine friends to play with. However, he is not a good fit for a home with cats.
What he really needs is a family willing to embrace his unique way of experiencing the world and give him the active, loving home he deserves.
Want to meet him in person?
Roux will be attending the Summertime Adopt-A-Thon at PetSuites Chesapeake. Come spend some time with him, toss a ball his way, and see just how quickly this happy, energetic pup can steal your heart.
Sometimes the best dogs don’t hear the world the same way we do. They just have a different way of listening.
Roux is waiting to hear from his future family—with his eyes, his heart, and maybe a tennis ball or two.
