Last week, I lost one of my beloved pets. If you have ever loved an animal, you know that kind of grief is real and heavy, and sometimes the walls of your own home can start to feel a little too quiet.
I needed to get out. I needed the kind of unconditional comfort that only animals can provide. So I did what any self-respecting animal lover would do: I went and spent an afternoon surrounded by cats at Virginia Beach’s first-ever cat lounge.
Sand and Sea Cat Lounge is a local nonprofit cat lounge that is home to adoptable cats and kittens through Billy the Kidden Rescue. Sessions start at just $8, and every dollar goes directly toward helping the cats in Billy the Kidden Rescue’s care find loving homes.
Among all the wonderful cats I met that afternoon, one in particular stole my heart, and apparently decided my personal space was no longer my own.
Meet Remex. He is a handsome two-year-old orange and white tabby, and he is what the staff lovingly call a certified lap cat. Personal space? Never heard of it. Remex is approximately 90% cuddle bug and 10% enthusiastically learning how to play. Toys are fun, but given the choice, he would much rather spend his time soaking up belly rubs, leaning into head scratches, and reminding you in the most earnest way possible just how loved you are.
In other words, he was exactly what I needed that afternoon.
Remex is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccines, and gets along well with other friendly cats.
Whether you are healing a heavy heart, looking for a low-key afternoon activity, or simply in the market for some quality cat time, Sand and Sea Cat Lounge is the place to be. Visit Remex and more cats and kittens up for adoption today!
