Pharrell to be Honored at the Hollywood Film Awards

Pharrell Williams is adding another honor to his massive trophy case. The 13-time Grammy winner will receive the Hollywood Song Award at the Hollywood Film Awards on November 3 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Skateboard P is being recognized for his song “Letter to My Godfather,” from the Clarence Avant Netflix documentary, The Black Godfather. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Lionel Richie, Babyface and Diddy are among the stars paying homage to Avant in the film. Clarence Avant, who founded Tabu Records, is considered one of the most influential African-American music executives ever. His artists included Alexander O’Neal, Cherrelle, and the SOS Band. Avant also launched Jam and Lewis’ prolific producing career. Pharrell recently announced that his Something in the Water music festival will return to his hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia, from April 24 to April 30. Travis Scott, SZA, Migos, Chris Brown, Missy Elliott, Diddy, SZA, Snoop Dogg, Janelle Monae and many others performed at the first festival in April of this year. In addition to music, the 2020 festival will also focus on technology, health and wellness. Advanced ticket sales for Virginia residents and returning customers will begin Saturday. Tickets will go on sale for the public on November 15. The lineup of artists will be announced November 12.
