Genesis Cuts Helicopter From John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s Super Bowl Commercial

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s Genesis Super Bowl commercial has seen a last minute edit with a helicopter in B-Roll being cut out in respects to the victims of last Sunday’s helicopter crash that killed basketball legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others.

A Genesis spokesperson says:

“Today we re-cut our Super Bowl ad, to remove a stationary helicopter that was in the opening two seconds of the commercial. The ad had been filmed, produced and delivered well before Sunday’s tragedy, so we took down the spot out of compassion and sensitivity to the families.”

The removal of the helicopter doesn’t change the ad much at all. The plot of the ad is John dragging Chrissy to an upscale party filled with “old luxury” stereotypes. In addition to the helicopter, other stereotypes featured are a horse-drawn carriage and a gaudy fountain.
