Ralph Lauren announced on Thursday that his charitable arm will be donating $10 million to coronavirus relief efforts. He also announced that the company will begin production on 250,000 face masks and 25,000 isolation gowns for healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic.
In a statement, Lauren said, “ At the heart of our company, there has always been a spirit of togetherness that inspires our creativity, our confidence and most importantly our support for one another. In the past weeks and months, that spirit has never wavered. We believe that no matter who you are or where you are from, we are all connected. That is why we are taking significant action to help our teams and communities through this crisis.”
His contribution is the most sizable one made from the fashion industry, as Estée Lauder pledged a $2 million donation to Doctors Without Borders earlier this week.
Lauren’s contribution of 10 million dollars will serve different causes including the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. He’s also extending financial grants through the Emergency Assistance Foundation to help employees and partners with medical funds, child and elder care.
