In a case of perfect casting, Nicholas Cage has been casted to play Joe Exotic in a new scripted series.
In the eight-episode series, Cage will star as the Tiger King star and the series is currently titled Joe Exotic. The show is being led by Dan Lagana, co-creator and showrunner of the Netflix mockumentary American Vandal.
The real Joe Exotic is currently serving a 22 year federal prison sentence for a murder-for-hire plot against his former rival, Carole Baskin, plus animal abuse.
The series is unique in the fact that this was in production long before the hit Netflix show. According to Variety, CBS Television Studios optioned the series back in June of 2019 and Cage has been attached to the project since last month.
