ABC’s third season of American Idol wrapped up last night, remotely of course, and they crowned the new winner Just Sam!

The Harlem Native was able to secure her place in the viewers’ hearts, as well as the judges, with her sweet and kind energy along with her soulful voice.

Just Sam, also known as Samantha Diaz said, “My grandmother has been saying that she doesn’t believe that people like us can have their dreams come true. This is proof to her!”

The 20-year-old former subway singer also said, “I kept on pushing, kept on singing and look where it’s brought me. I hope to inspire all the little girl who believe their dreams can’t come true. Anyone can do it.”

The finale was live and filmed remotely, and of course featured judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan and host Ryan Seacrest.
