“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson has recently discovered that he has an adult child from an affair 45 years ago.

Robertson and his children Al, Jase, Jep and Willie, revealed the news on the Unashamed podcast on Thursday. Al explained that he got a letter from a woman named Phylliss who was 45 and claimed to be his sister.

“So basically, it was from a woman who said that by a DNA search, she thinks that dad might be her dad,” he said of the letter. Taken aback, he dismissed the letter because she was born in the 70’s after his father turned his life over to Christ.

Phil has admitted to being a womanizer prior to the church, meaning that the child was conceived before Phil getting saved.

Al said, “Well once we get into that and start looking at it a little more deeply, I’m like, ‘Oh woah, woah… there might be something to this. I started thinking, there’s a 45-year-old woman out there who doesn’t know who her dad is, and she’s looking. And I thought, even if it’s not dad, she needs to know it’s not dad.”

Al then approached his parents and Phil agreed to take a DNA test. He was a 99.9% match.

Listeners of the podcast were told that they can expect to hear Phyliss very soon and that Phil has already met her.

Phil says, “It’s a pretty cool explanation of redemption, reconciliation, love. As it turns out, 45 years, you have a daughter that you don’t know about, and she has a father she doesn’t know about. 45 years that doesn’t sound like very long but you say, that’s a while. So finally, after all those years, we come together.”
