Mariah Carey Opened Up About the ‘Extremely Uncomfortable’ 2008 Ellen Interview: “I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath.”

Back in November 2008, Mariah Carey appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in a clip that has been shared again recently on social media following the allegations of a toxic workplace.

In the segment shared below, the host pressured Carey into confirming her rumored pregnancy by encouraging the singer to drink champagne.

Mariah recently opened up about the moment in an interview with Vulture magazine saying:

“I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath,” the five-time Grammy winner, 50, told “I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage.”

She went on to say that she doesn’t “want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus” but she “didn’t enjoy that moment.”

Looking back on the televised interview, Carey told Vulture, “[There is] an empathy that can be applied to that moment.”
