Oops!  These parents are issuing a warning for others after their Elf on the Shelf had a bit of a mishap.

Chelsea Hightower told Fox News that she and her husband Matt had been alternating nights hiding the three elves – one for each of their children – around the home.

“The night before they were in the fridge all night because the milk went bad,” she said, so her husband came up with the idea to put the elves in the oven so “they can get warm in there.”

Matt put the elves in the oven, along with a sign “It’s a lot toastier in here!” and then the two went to bed.

Can you see where this is going?  Yep, they forgot about the elves inside and turned the oven on!

Chelsea told Fox News her husband called her with the news saying,  “’Babe…I feel really bad. I feel horrible. I cooked the elves.”

Fortunately, the parents were able to convince their children the elves just went back to the North Pole for a while.
