The Weeknd Reveals He Put $7 Million of His Own Money Into His “Cinematic” Halftime Show

The Weeknd will be headlining the Super Bowl halftime show and his team says that it will be a “cinematic experience.”

“We’ve been really focusing on dialing in on the fans at home and making performances a cinematic experience, and we want to do that with the Super Bowl.”

Billboard revealed in the new cover issue that The Weeknd has pumped $7 million of his own money into it to “make [it] be what he envisioned.”

We also learned in the in-depth interview that his crew boosted him from “basically homeless” to the Super Bowl and that they call him “Diapers” because he changes his mind so much.

“They call me ‘Diapers’ because I always change my mind . . . I have a knack to be like, ‘I want to do something else. I want to look different. I want to drop more music.’ They’re there to be like, ‘Let’s just keep this focused.'”
