Actor George Segal has passed away at the age of 87 following complications from surgery.
Segal most recently played Albert “Pops” Solomon on “The Goldbergs.” The last episode he filmed before his death will air on April 7th. According to Deadline, the show is expected to pay tribute to him on-air.
His long career also included an Oscar-nominated role in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” in 1966 and a role in the popular sitcom “Just Shoot Me.”
His wife Sonia announced his death, saying, “The family is devastated to announce that this morning George Segal passed away due to complications from bypass surgery.”
Today we lost a legend. It was a true honor being a small part of George Segal’s amazing legacy. By pure fate, I ended up casting the perfect person to play Pops. Just like my grandfather, George was a kid at heart with a magical spark. I think these memories say it all… pic.twitter.com/D1aNZuT20e
