An extremely rare Calico lobster has a new home at the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News after being discovered at a Red Lobster in Manassas, Virginia.

Freckles was spotted by Red Lobster employees who then saved the rare lobster from being a diner’s meal.  Only 1 in 30 million lobsters in the world have his special orange and black speckled shell.

The museum’s senior director of animal welfare told WAVY-TV, “We see this as an opportunity to share nature’s anomaly with guests, as well as continue important education about sustainable seafood practices and significant conservation efforts of the American lobster fishery.”

Freckles will be on display at the museum after a short evaluation and quarantine. The museum is located at 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd. and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
