Photographer Captures Brawling Horses in Outer Banks: ‘A Reminder of How Wild and Powerful These Animals Are!”


A photographer captured two wild horses on Corolla beach in the midst of a brawl recently.

The Corolla Wild Horse Fund shared the photos saying, “Acorn and Junior were having a very serious conversation about something — most likely mares. A great reminder of how very wild and very powerful these amazing animals are.”

Local laws dictate humans must stay at least 50 feet away from the horses — or risk being hurt. Laws also prevent people from feeding the horses, which have been known to choke to death on unfamiliar foods like apples and carrots.

Photographer Erin Millar made the national news telling The Charlotte Observer that she used a 200mm zoom lens to capture photos on Corolla’s 4X4 beach.

Southern Living magazine also featured the stunning photos in an online article.
