Salma Hayek revealed in a new interview the severity of her battle with COVID-19.
The actress told Variety that she battled the virus in the early days of the pandemic and ended up spending about seven weeks isolated in a room of her home and was put on oxygen.
“My doctor begged me to go to the hospital because it was so bad,” Hayek told the publication via Zoom call. “I said, ‘No, thank you. I’d rather die at home.’”
Hayek says she has yet to fully regain the energy she once had but she was able to return to work in April to film the new movie “House of Gucci.” “It was not a lot of time,” Hayek told Variety. “It was easy. It was the perfect job to just get back into it. I had started doing Zooms at one point, but I could only do so many because I would get so tired.”
