American runner Isaiah Jewett and Nijel Amos from Botswanan took a fall during their semifinal heat at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday.
Jewett was in front of Amos when the back of his heel appeared to hit Amos and both runners fell. According to TODAY, Jewitt said, “As he looked at me, he said, ‘I’m sorry,’ I said, ‘It’s OK, man.’”
Jewett and Amos helped each other to their feet, put their arms around each other and finished the heat together.
Following an appeal, Amos was reinstated into the final but Jewett remained out.
