An anonymous “Jill” wrote in because she’s hesitant to take a promotion she’s been offered. She’d be replacing someone who was very well-liked but just underperforming, so Jill is worried about coming in as the “bad guy” essentially. Plus she really likes her current work people in her department, so she was curious what other people thought about taking the promotion.

People across the board urged her to take the promotion, except for Michelle who had a good point that money isn’t everything. There’s something to be said for complacency! Jokes aside, it’s an opportunity and she wouldn’t be losing her old friends. The point was made that if she doesn’t take the promotion it could reflect poorly on her in the future.
