Multiple manatee sightings have been reported in our area recently!

The Virginia Aquarium shared a warning on Facebook to keep your distance.

If you happen to encounter a manatee, please keep your distance, do not feed it or offer it water, and report your sighting to our Stranding Response Team at (757) 385-7575. If you can do so safely from shore, be sure to make note of any unique markings on the animal to share with Stranding Response – photos and videos are welcomed! While manatees cannot survive year-round in our area, they are regularly observed when the water is warm.
