Tom Hanks Turned Down Offer to Go to Space Because It Was ‘Too Expensive’ [VIDEO]

Tom Hanks traveled to space in his hit movie Apollo 13 but in real life, he turned down the chance.

The star appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live where host Jimmy Kimmel asked, “Is it true that you were asked to go to space by Jeff Bezos before William Shatner?”

Hanks confirmed that it was true…but with one condition. He replied, “Well, yeah, provided I pay.”

“It costs like 28 million bucks or something like that. And I’m doing good, Jimmy — I’m doing good — but I ain’t paying 28 [million] bucks,” he added.

He then mimicked shaking in a rocket while in his chair, saying, “I don’t need to spend 28 million bucks to do that.”
