Rob Thomas Reveals New Album Is Inspired by Hallmark Christmas Movies

Who knew Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas was such a huge Hallmark Christmas movie fan?

The self-proclaimed “Hallmark movie geek” told Us Weekly that his new Christmas album, Something About Christmas Time, was inspired by some of his favorite holiday rom-coms!

“I lucked out because during the summer Hallmark movie channel was having their ‘Christmas in July’ [marathon],” Thomas said. “So, like, I could just leave that on the whole time, and then I only had to, like, you know, bring down my Christmas DVDs — of which I have many — just for a little bit of June and a little bit in August.”

Thomas will even make an appearance on Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on the Hallmark float to promote his new album.  One of the album’s new songs, “A New York Christmas,” is featured in the upcoming Hallmark Christmas movie A Royal Queens Christmas.

The “Unwell” singer also revealed his all-time favorite of the Hallmark Christmas movies is one staring Henry Winkler called Most Wonderful Time of the Year.
