The Virginia Department of Health will add a Covid-19 testing center to its vaccination clinic in Newport News, beginning Monday, Jan. 10.

The testing center will be open by appointment from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The testing will be done in a heated tent at Sherwood Shopping Center, 13785 Warwick Blvd. Tests will be the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests, which is more accurate than rapid tests. Results could take up to 72 hours and will be sent via text or email message. Weekend testing will be available the weekend of Jan. 29. 

Testing is by appointment only, although the associated community vaccination center accepts walk-ins for vaccinations.
