‘Bridgerton’ and ‘Yellowjackets’ Stars Fight Back Against Body Shaming

The stars of two popular  shows are speaking out against body shaming.

Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington on Bridgerton, shared a note on Instagram over the weekend asking fans to not share their opinions about her body with her.

“Hello! So just a thing- if you have an opinion about my body please, please don’t share it with me,” Coughlan wrote. “Most people are being nice and not trying to be offensive but I am just one real-life human being and it’s really hard to take the weight of thousands of opinions on how you look being sent directly to you every day. If you have an opinion about me that’s ok, I understand I’m on TV and that people will have things to think and say but I beg you not to send it to me directly ❤️ Anyways here’s a pic of me in my hotel in NY about to go to SNL, it’s unrelated to this post but delighted with my hair in it.”

Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey also hit back at bodyshaming trolls on social media. The actress, who plays Shauna in the Showtime series, replied to a now deleted tweet from someone claiming they “care about her health”.

“The story of my life since Yellowjackets premiered,” she began. “Most egregious are the ‘I care about her health!!’ people…bitch you don’t see me on my Peleton!

“You don’t see me running through the park with my child. Skinny does not always equal healthy,” the star added.

Lynskey’s husband, actor Jason Ritter, also chimed in to defend his wife saying, “If anyone has any further unsolicited comments about *anybody* else’s body, they can feel free to write them in permanent ink onto their own foreheads and swan dive directly into the sun.”
