Model Linda Evangelista revealed last year that she was left ‘brutally disfigured’ after a cosmetic procedure five years ago.
Now, for the first time, she is speaking out and sharing photos after being a self-proclaimed “recluse.”
Evangelista says she underwent a CoolSculpting procedure to decrease fat cells. But she alleged it “did the opposite of what it promised” and “left me permanently deformed.”
In her first interview with People magazine, she reveals why she decided to share her experience.
“I hope I can shed myself of some of the shame and help other people who are in the same situation as me,” she says. “That’s my goal.”
A representative for CoolSculpting told People its procedure, which has been cleared by the FDA, “has been well studied with more than 100 scientific publications and more than 11 million treatments performed worldwide.”
