Katy Perry Reveals We’ve All Been Singing ‘Firework’ Wrong: ‘It’s Not “Up”‘

Fill in the blank…

Baby You’re a Firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, ____ _____ _____
As you shoot across the sky

If you said, “up” or “ah” you’ve been singing it wrong.

On Sunday’s episode of American Idol, Katy Perry set everyone straight about the song’s actual lyrics.  After fellow judge Luke Bryan began to sing the song’s chorus, Katy interrupted him to say, “It’s not ‘up, up, up’ and it’s not ‘ah, ah, ah.'”

When Bryan asked, “What is it then because I’ve been dying to know all these years?” and Katy replied, “awe, awe, awe.”

She later shared moment on Instagram saying, “FOR THE OFFICIAL RECORD ☝🏻. it is AWE not UP. it is FIREWORK not FIREWORKSSS. Swipe ➡️ for proof 🎆🎇.”
