The Virginia Zoo has welcomed a new lion to Norfolk!
Meet Ansel, a five-year-old, that weighs in at 450 pounds.

Ansel arrived from Madison, Wisconsin last month and underwent a routine quarantine period where he spent time getting acquainted with his Zoo Keepers and exhibit.
He is now on exhibit to Zoo visitors and will soon be joined by two females, Asha and Kali. The females, who are sisters, will be turning 5 at the end of April.
According to a press release, after the females arrive and complete a routine quarantine period, there will be a House Warming Party for the newcomers with Keeper Chats, enrichment, educational activities and a fundraiser to support lion conservation.
