American Idol Crowns Season 20 Winner {WATCH}

American Idol wrapped up its 20th season on Sunday (May 22).

The three finalists included HunterGirl, Leah Marlene, and Noah Thompson. Judge Katy Perry joined Leah Marlene for a duet on “Firework.” Judge Luke Bryan and HunterGirl sang “I Told You So.” Noah Thompson and Melissa Etheridge collaborated on “I’m Not The Only One.”

The three-hour episode featured performances from Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett and Gabby Barrett.

Carrie Underwood was scheduled to perform but had to sit out last minute due to COVID-19 exposure. Host Ryan Seacrest made the announcement at the beginning of the episode saying, “There was a COVID exposure within Carrie Underwood’s group so following protocol, she is unable to perform tonight. Sad, but you can check her out on her tour, Denim & Rhinestones. That tour coming this fall. So, go see her.”

In the end, a winner was crowned.  20-year-old Noah Thompson was named the next American Idol.
