Adele Opens Up About ‘Guilt’ Over Postponed Las Vegas Residency: ‘I Was a Shell of a Person’

Adele has no regrets over postponing her Las Vegas residency, but the “Easy on Me” singer shared she felt guilty for letting fans down.

In a new interview with BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Adele shared, “I definitely felt everyone’s disappointment and I was devastated and I was frightened about letting them down,” she said. “I thought I could pull it together and make it work and I couldn’t. I don’t think any other artist would have done what I did, and I think that is why it was such a massive, massive story.”

Adele added that she “was a shell of a person for a couple of months” after postponing the residency. “I just had to wait it out and just grieve it, I guess, just grieve the shows and get over the guilt, but it was brutal.”

The singer stood by her decision saying,  “I’m not going to just do a show because I have to or because people are going to be let down or because we’re going to lose loads of money.”

Adele previously told Graham Norton that the residency is still “100% happening.”

The singer performed at London’s Hyde Park this weekend and told the audience, she will be announcing the rearranged US dates “very, very soon”, and that she was waiting for one more piece of equipment to be ready.
