A childhood favorite ice cream treat is being discontinued.
The Choco Taco, which combines ice cream, chocolate, and peanuts, into a taco-shaped waffle cone, was discontinued in July. According to PEOPLE, a rep for Klondike cited an unprecedented spike in demand for different Klondike products as the reason for the discontinuation.
We’re always updating our product portfolio to create new, exciting innovations that reflect consumer preferences and trends. A necessary but unfortunate part of this process is that we sometimes discontinue products in order to ensure we can offer the best variety nationwide.

In an article published by Eater in 2016, the beloved dessert’s origins were traced back to Alan Drazen in 1983 while he worked for the Philadelphia-based ice cream company Jack & Jill. It eventually made its way to Taco Bell for a limited time.
In 2016, Stupak told Eater that the joy of eating a Choco Taco lies in our childhood memories. “You can make it taste better, but then it’s not the childhood treat anymore, so it kind of ruins it,” says Stupak.
Social media users took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the beloved ice cream treat.

Questioning my own Choco Taco consumption habits. Could I have eaten more? How many would I have to eat? https://t.co/ZTOSv51d52

Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian tweeted that he’d like to purchase the Choco Taco from Unilever, to “keep it from melting away from future generations’ childhoods.” So the Choco Taco may not be dead for good.
Dear @Unilever — I'd like to buy the rights to your Choco Taco and keep it from melting away from future generations' childhoods. https://t.co/eXsmoR8kIV
