Rolling Stone published its annual list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time on New Year’s Day with Aretha Franklin landing in the top spot.

Whitney Houston, Sam Cooke, Billie Holiday, and Mariah Carey rounded out the Top 5 on the list which is based on “originality, influence, the depth of an artist’s catalog, and the breadth of their musical legacy.”

The outlet says of its rankings, “before you start scrolling (and commenting), keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List. Talent is impressive; genius is transcendent.”

Still, fans aren’t happy with the rankings, which exclude Celine Dion, Pink, Janet Jackson, Toby Bennett, Madonna, and more.

Many took to Twitter to debate the publication’s rankings and defend their favorite singers.

Which snub do you think is the most egregious?
