Hampton Roads residents looking forward to the return of the Pungo Strawberry Festival will have to wait at least another year. For the fourth straight year, festival owners have canceled the popular event that historically took place every Memorial Day weekend in Pungo.

According to a statement posted to the Pungo Strawberry Festival Facebook page, the executive board has decided to cancel this year’s festival because they were unable to secure the land-use agreements.

Last year, the festival was canceled due to ” unforeseen circumstances and the time constraints to resolve the issues” and the COVID-19 pandemic was the reason behind the cancellation in 2020 and 2021.
