LISTEN: Olivia Newton-John Recorded a Duet with Dolly Parton Prior to Her Death

Olivia Newton-John’s family joined the Today show this week to share memories of the late icon six months after her death.

The late star’s husband, John Easterling, and daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, sat down with Today and Chloe shared “She’s not Olivia Newton-John to me, but I’m so glad that she was Olivia Newton-John for so many people.

Easterling said of his late wife of 15 years, “She had the willpower, even in her most difficult times, to really bring in the light and to bring in the love, and she was who she was all the way through.” Her daughter also revealed the last words her mom was able to say to her were ‘My sunshine and right before she lost her ability to speak, she was making jokes.”

Her family also spoke about her final recording, a just-released duet with Dolly Parton on her classic hit, “Jolene.”

The song will be included on an upcoming posthumous release of Olivia’s called “Just the Two of Us: The Duets Collection” which comes out May 5th.

“It’s a gorgeous duet,” Easterling said. “Dolly’s a wonderful person, was a good friend of Olivia.”
