Virginia Beach Named One of the Top Allergy Capitals in the Country

This will come as no surprise to allergy sufferers, Virginia Beach was just named one of the top 10 Allergy Capitals in the country.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) has produced its Allergy Capitals™ reports since 2003 to help people recognize, prevent, and manage seasonal allergies.  The Top 20 Allergy Capitals are based on total pollen scores (tree, grass, and weed), over-the-counter medication use (allergy), and the number of allergy specialists.

Virginia Beach ranks #11 on the list with Wichita, KS coming in at #1.  Rounding out the Top 5 are Dallas, Tx, Scranton, PA, Oklahoma City, OK and Tulsa, OK.  Virginia Beach was given an average total score of 78.35.   Interestingly, Virginia Beach’s pollen levels and the number of allergy specialists were both at average levels, however, the use of over-the-counter medicine is worse than average.

Wondering what the best city is for allergy relief?  Buffalo, NY ranked last on the list of the Top 100.
