Dwayne Johnson Announces Live-Action Adaptation of Disney’s Moana

Disney will film a live-action adaptation of the 2016 animated feature Moana. Dwayne Johnson traveled to Hawaii to record an announcement, which Disney released on Monday.

The Rock will return to the live-action movie in the role of the charismatic demigod, Maui. The Rock said in the video (quote) “It’s still very early in the process. There’s so much more work to be done.”

Auli’i Cravalho, who originally voiced Moana, will be an executive producer. Casting has not been completed beyond The Rock’s return.
