Elton John Performs Final Concert Of Farewell Tour

Elton John performed the last concert of his farewell tour over the weekend in Stockholm Sweden. He told the audience that it was 52 years to the day that he first played there.

Before his last song, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” he thanked his fans, band, and family during an emotional speech and said, “I’ve had the most wonderful career. Beyond belief. 52 years of pure joy of playing music. How lucky am I to play music?”

He went on to say, “It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys and you’ve been absolutely magnificent. Thank you!”

Elton made a point to tell the audience that even though this was his “last tour” it would not be his last show. He said he was going to take some time to enjoy his friends and family before performing again.

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour kicked off in September of 2018 in Allentown , Pennsylvania and was delayed by covid restrictions for some time. It has now become the first tour to ever gross over $900,000,000 in ticket sales.

On Instagram, he posted a “by-the-numbers” wrap-up of the tour.  It included 330 shows, 6.25 million fans, More than 32 MILLION notes played, two marriage proposals, 16 Gucci suits, 120,000 concert programs, 38,610 “LAs” sung during “Crocodile Rock”, Thousands of boas, glasses, and Dodgers outfits worn by fans, and 990 drumsticks.
