Madonna Shares Health and Tour Update Following Hospitalization

Madonna has spoken out about the mystery illness that sent her to intensive care and reportedly nearly killed her — and she’s mostly expressing gratitude.

The pop icon logged onto Instagram on Monday to post a selfie and note saying, “Thank you for your positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life”

“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children,” she continued. “My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I hate to disappoint anyone.”

The Celebration tour was originally scheduled to begin July 15th in Vancouver, but the singer was rushed to the hospital on June 24th with an unspecified “serious bacterial infection” that led to several days in an intensive care unit.

“My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can!” she told fans. “The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe. I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support. Love, M,”
