Kitten Season Sparks Urgent Need for Foster Homes at Portsmouth Humane Society

Shelter Pet Saturday brought to you by Dreamlawns

It’s kitten season at Portsmouth Humane Society, and these adorable bundles of fur are in need of a loving home!

The shelter can be a challenging environment for kittens this small, and PHS is actively seeking foster homes to provide them with care while they grow stronger. Through the foster program, Portsmouth Humane Society will supply you with everything you need to get started – all you need to supply is the love! Portsmouth Humane provides all the necessary veterinary care, and there is no fee or cost associated with fostering.

Foster parents play an integral role in the shelter’s mission, enabling them to save as many lives as possible. By fostering, you’re not only offering an animal a chance to become more adoptable (through recovery from illness or injury, refining or retaining house manners), but you’re also empowering PHS to accommodate another homeless animal in the shelter.

If you’re interested in becoming a foster, learn more here. Additionally, if you’re considering adopting one, two, or all three of these kittens, ask about our “foster to adopt” program. As part of #CleartheShelters Month, PHS is offering “Name your own price adoptions.”

If adopting or fostering isn’t possible for you right now, there are still ways to make a difference. Sign up for Cause For Paws, Portsmouth Humane Society’s annual pet festival scheduled for September 30th at Festival Park in Portsmouth. This event features a Pet Festival with pet-friendly activities, contests, and vendors, along with a 5K/1-Mile Run/Walk. The funds raised from this event go directly towards providing food, medical care, and shelter for homeless animals at the shelter.

Your support, whether through fostering, adopting, participating in events, or spreading the word, plays a pivotal role in creating a better future for these precious kittens and many other animals in need. Together, we can make a lasting impact and give these furry friends a chance at a brighter tomorrow.
