Meet Skye, a sweet and loving 2-year-old up for adoption at Portsmouth Humane Society.  Skye gets along with everyone she meets, including other dogs.  She is a gentle girl and we think she would make a great addition to any family.

Skye was transferred in from another shelter and we don’t know a lot about her background.  A great way to help staff get to know the animals better is through their program “Paws Around P-Town.”  Through this program, volunteers can take dogs out of the shelter for a field trip.

Field Trips can last anywhere from two hours to all day, and can include a trip to one of the fabulous parks in Hampton Roads, a trip to the beach, a lunch at a pet-friendly restaurant, or even just a nap on the couch!   This is a great way to get to know the pups outside of the shelter environment.  Learn more here.

Can’t adopt but still want to help? Help Portsmouth Humane Society raise lifesaving funds for the animals in their care and community at the 15th Annual Cause for Paws! This event is fun “fur” the whole family – pets included! Cause for Paws includes a Pet Festival with pet-friendly activities, contests, and vendors alongside a 5K/1-Mile Run/Walk. Friendly, vaccinated dogs welcome!

Proceeds provide food, medical care, and shelter for homeless animals at our shelter.
