Katy Perry is stepping down from American Idol after seven seasons. The pop singer revealed this week that this will be her final season as a judge on the reality show.
Katy told Jimmy Kimmel that her scheduled performances this autumn conflict with taping Idol auditions (quote) “I think this will probably be my last season for Idol. I mean, I love Idol so much,” she added, “It’s connected me with the heart of America.”
When Kimmel asked how Ryan Seacrest and the other Idol judges reacted to her departure, Katy Perry shrugged her shoulders (quote) “Well, they’ll find out tonight!”
The new season of American Idol debuts on Sunday.
