Meet Diesel: An 8-Year-Old Social Butterfly With a $1 Adoption Fee at Virginia Beach Animal Care

Meet our Pet of the Week, Diesel, at the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center. This friendly 8-year-old pup is a social butterfly who loves being around people. He would make an excellent work-from-home buddy and is currently the shelter greeter at VBACAC, hanging out with the front desk staff behind the counter when you visit. While Diesel is good with older children, he prefers to be the only pet.

Diesel has some environmental allergies, and his new family should seek veterinary care to help keep him comfortable and healthy.

Exciting news! At VBACAC, all adoptions are just $1, and they’ve introduced a new Shelter Buddy program. This program allows the community to take a dog from the shelter out on a field trip for the day or even just a couple of hours for a walk or a pup cup.

This initiative gives the dogs a break from the shelter, providing them with a more relaxed environment, and allows you to get to know them better outside of the stressful shelter setting.

Stop by any day from 12 PM to 5 PM and “Check Out” a dog for the afternoon.

Field Trippers are equipped with an Adventure Bag with all the essentials:

– Poop Bags
– Treats
– “Adopt Me” bandana
– Doggy Seatbelt for safe transport
– Passport card with suggested Field Trip destinations and activities + Rules and Contact Info (just in case)

Field Trippers are asked to fill out a Report Card upon their return! This info provides insight into the adoptable dogs that they shelter can’t get within the confines of the shelter. Don’t forget to take pics & videos from your trip, too. 📸
