Kevin Bacon is returning to Payson High School, where the 1984 movie Footloose was filmed.
The actor announced on the Today show that he’ll visit the Utah school for their prom after students launched the #BaconToPayson campaign on social media. In a video to the teens, Bacon said, “I have been so impressed with everything that’s been going on there with this crazy idea to get me to come back. I’ve been amazed at the work that all of you have been putting into this, with the musical and the flash mobs and the re-creations.”
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Footloose, in which Bacon played a Chicago teen who moves to a small town and fights to overturn a ban on dancing.
