Norfolk Animal Care Center at Critical Capacity, Seeks Foster Homes for Dogs

Norfolk Animal Care Center (NACC) is facing a critical situation: all dog kennels are full, and the shelter shared a plea on social media for the community’s support. Among the dogs in need is Mira, a recent owner surrender who deserves a second chance at a loving home.

Despite being deeply loved by her parent, circumstances forced them to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender her to NACC. Now, Mira is seeking an adopter, rescue, or foster who will provide her with the care and affection she deserves.

If you’ve ever considered fostering a dog, now is the perfect time to step up and make a difference. Fostering is free, and all necessary supplies are provided by NACC. Whether you’re able to open your home temporarily or are interested in eventually adopting, fostering gives dogs like Mira the chance to thrive outside of a shelter environment.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Donate: Consider donating a bag of Hill’s Science Diet dog food to help nourish the dogs at NACC. Your contribution can make a significant impact on their well-being.

Donators can purchase and have it sent directly to  Norfolk Animal Care Center 5585 Sabre Road Norfolk VA 23502

  2. Foster: Fostering a dog is a rewarding experience that can change a dog’s life. If you’re interested in fostering, please email [email protected] to arrange picking up a foster.

  3. Adopt: If you’re ready to make a lifelong commitment, consider adopting from NACC. All dog adoption fees are $75 and include basic vaccines, a microchip, and spay/neuter surgery.

  4. Search for lost pets: If you’ve lost a pet, check NACC to see if they’ve been found. Many pets are brought to the shelter after being found in the community. Additionally, if you find a lost pet, try to reunite them with their owner before bringing them to the shelter.

  5. Spread the word: Share this post on social media to raise awareness about the importance of fostering and adopting from NACC. Your voice can help us find loving homes for dogs in need.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of dogs at Norfolk Animal Care Center.
