Every pet at the Virginia Beach SPCA has a story, and this week’s Pet of the Week, Simon, has one of resilience, healing, and hope.

At just 4 years old, Simon has already faced more medical challenges than most pets do in a lifetime. He first arrived at VBSPCA through the low-cost clinic, suffering from a painful bladder stone that he was unable to pass on his own. Thanks to the quick actions of the VBSPCA veterinary team, Simon underwent surgery to remove the blockage and was placed on a lifelong prescription urinary diet to prevent future issues.
But Simon’s journey wasn’t over yet. He also required surgery on both of his eyes to improve his comfort and quality of life. Through every step—every vet visit, every medication, every recovery period—Simon remained gentle, trusting, and full of heart. He adores face scratches and is adventurous, climbing the tallest cat trees in the shelter.
Today, Simon is feeling better than ever and is finally ready for his next big adventure: finding a loving home.
