Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has had his Australian visa canceled due to the release of an antisemitic song titled "Heil Hitler" in May. “He’s made a lot of offensive comments that my officials looked at again once he released [that] song,” said Tony Burke, Australia’s Minister for Immigration and Citizenship. “We have enough problems in this country already without deliberately importing bigotry.” The decision comes more than two years after the musician wed Bianca Censori, who is from Australia. The trial of Sean Combs is now in the hands of the jury, as they began deliberation on Monday (June 30) on the charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution against the disgraced music mogul. The process is expected to take several days. If convicted, Combs faces a possible life sentence for racketeering, a minimum of 15 years for sex trafficking, and a maximum of 10 years for transportation to engage in prostitution. The judge commended both the defense attorneys and federal prosecutors for their "great lawyering" at the end of the seven-week trial, stating that “the case was really exceptionally tried by both sides.” The trial saw lengthy closing arguments, with the prosecution portraying Combs as the head of a criminal enterprise, while the defense claimed that his activities were part of a consensual "swingers lifestyle." Kendrick Lamar and SZA have broken the touring record previously held by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, as the duo’s ongoing Grand National Tour is officially the highest-grossing co-headline tour of all-time. Kendrick and SZA just completed the North American leg of their tour, which grossed $256.4 million from 1.1 million tickets sold over the course of 23 shows. The Grand National Tour surpassed the total gross of Beyoncé and Jay-Z's On the Run II Tour by a 1% margin. Bobby Sherman, a top teen idol of the late 1960s and early '70s, has passed away at the age of 81 after battling kidney cancer. The sad news was announced by his wife, Brigitte Poublon, on Instagram on Tuesday (June 24). “It is with the heaviest heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Bobby Sherman,” she wrote. “And though our family feels his loss profoundly, we also feel the warmth of his legacy—his voice, his laughter, his music, his mission. Thank you to every fan who ever sang along, who ever sent love his way. He felt it.” Sherman rose to fame starring in the hit ABC TV series, Here Come the Brides, which ran from 1968 to 1970. Sherman's music career was marked by a run of chart-topping success in the span of only two and a half years, which featured a string of gold-certified Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hits, “Little Woman,” “La La La (If I Had You),” “Easy Come, Easy Go,” and “Julie, Do Ya Love Me.” Sherman also had three Top 20 albums on the Billboard 200 – Bobby Sherman, Here Comes Bobby and With Love – which were all certified gold. Brandy and Monica just announced that they are launching their first-ever co-headlining The Boy Is Mine Tour, with special guests Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, and American Idol winner Jamal Roberts. The 24-date arena tour kicks off in Cincinnati on October 16, and includes stops in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn, before concluding in Houston on December 7. The tour is named after their iconic 1998 duet, “The Boy Is Mine,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 13 weeks, earning them a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. In the new trailer for the upcoming Netflix competition series, Building the Band, the late Liam Payne is shown offering guidance and encouragement to aspiring musicians. The show, which is set to premiere on July 9 and will be hosted by AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys), blends elements of The Voice and Love Is Blind, and features singers blindly selecting potential band members based on their vocal talent alone. The competitors will be advised by star mentor Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls), along with guest judges Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) and the late One Direction singer. On Tuesday (June 24), the prosecution rested its case in the high-profile Sean Combs trial, where the disgraced entertainment mogul is accused of five felony charges of sex-trafficking and racketeering. The defense team has announced that they don’t plan to call any witnesses, with Combs choosing not to testify in his own defense. The court has seen six weeks of witness testimonies, emotional accounts from three alleged sexual-abuse victims, and a mountain of evidence presented by the prosecution, including documentation of a series of alleged "freak-offs" with Combs' ex-girlfriends and an array of male escorts. On Monday (June 23), Reneé Rapp announced dates and details of her 2025 Bite Me Tour, which will hit up arenas and amphitheaters this fall. The 17-date North American jaunt is set to kick off on September 23 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, stopping in major music markets like Chicago, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, before winding down on October 29 in Charlotte, North Carolina. On Monday (June 23), Maroon 5 announced the details of their upcoming eighth studio album, Love Is Like, which is set to be released on August 15 via Interscope. Seven years after her Grammy-winning debut album Invasion Of Your Privacy, Cardi B has announced the upcoming release of her highly-anticipated sophomore record. In an Instagram post, Cardi expressed her eagerness for the album's release, saying "The time is here. The time is now." She recently informed fans that she had delivered the completed album to her label. During an appearance on Today on Friday (June 20), Machine Gun Kelly confirmed that it was, in fact, Bob Dylan narrating his recent album announcement trailer for Lost Americana. “A magician never reveals his secrets,” MGK said about how the unlikely collaboration ultimately came together, before admitting that it was the result of “pure desperation. Cavin Yarbrough, one half of the chart-topping 1980s R&B duo Yarbrough & Peoples, passed away on Thursday (June 19) at the age of 72 due to complications from heart disease. “He was the love of my life, my protector. Now he’s my guardian angel,” Yarbrough’s wife and longtime music partner, Alisa Peoples, said in a statement. The group was known for their breakout hit, "Don't Stop the Music," which topped the R&B charts in 1981, and also reached No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Don’t Stop the Music” went on to become an RIAA gold-certified single, and was featured on the pair’s gold-certified debut album, The Two of Us, which also spent two weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The duo also achieved commercial success with other hit songs like "Don’t Waste Your Time," "Heartbeats," "Guilty," and "I Wouldn't Lie." On Friday (June 20), Chris Brown pleaded not guilty to a charge of grievous bodily harm with intent in a London courthouse. The singer is accused of attacking music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw with a tequila bottle in a nightclub in 2023. Brown is also facing two additional charges – for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and another for carrying an offensive weapon –  with his trial scheduled for October 2026 after a follow-up hearing on July 11. Released on $6.7 million bail after a brief jail stint in Manchester back in May, Brown has since resumed his summer world tour, which began with a series of U.K. and European dates, and is scheduled to arrive in North America in late July. Rapper HoodyBaby, Brown’s longtime friend and collaborator, was also charged in connection to the incident, and pleaded not guilty to the assault charge against him on Friday. (Rolling Stone)

Dua Lipa brought her Radical Optimism world tour to London’s Wembley Stadium for two sold-out shows on Friday and Saturday (June 20-21). The pop superstar surprised fans by bringing out Charli XCX to perform her Brat standout, “360” during Saturday night’s show, while also collaborating with Jamiroquai on their Grammy-winning 1996 track, “Virtual Insanity,” the previous evening. Bonnaroo organizers are now offering full refunds to fans over the cancellation of three of the festival’s four scheduled days of the 2025 event, which was ultimately cut short due to heavy rains and flooding. This move is in response to backlash and online criticism the festival received over their initial offer of only 75 percent refunds to festival-goers. In addition, organizers said they are making plans to improve the festival grounds going forward, but are holding off on announcing future dates. “We want you to know that we're still listening and actively discussing plans to improve The Farm that we love so much,” the official statement reads. “At this time, we will not be announcing future dates. When plans for the future take shape, you all will be the first to know.” The 2025 cancellation marks the festival's second weather-related cancellation in four years, after the 2021 installment was called-off before it even began. In a new Instagram post, renowned studio musician Carol Kaye announced that she has declined induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “People have been asking: NO I won’t be there,” the 90-year-old Kaye wrote. “I am declining the RRHOF awards show. Turning it down because it wasn’t something that reflects the work that Studio Musicians do and did in the golden era of the 1960s Recording Hits.” Kaye also has long objected to the use of the "Wrecking Crew" nickname for her group of studio musicians, which was coined by drummer Hal Blaine.

“I was never a ‘wrecker’ at all,” she writes. “That’s a terrible insulting name.” In addition to Kaye’s Rock Hall induction, her musical legacy also came up in the wake of the death of Brian Wilson, with Kaye playing on Pet Sounds and many other Beach Boys’ classics, including “California Girls,” “Good Vibrations” and “Heroes and Villains.” Kaye also was part of the studio teams assembled by Motown, Phil Spector, and Quincy Jones, playing on songs by Frank Sinatra, Sonny & Cher, Simon & Garfunkel, the Monkees, Glen Campbell, Barbra Streisand, Elvis Presley, Joe Cocker, and Ray Charles. On Wednesday (June 18), Lorde took to social media to announce the upcoming release of “Hammer,” her final single shared in advance of her highly-anticipated Virgin album drop on June 27. The Grammy-winning pop superstar captioned the post: “Hammer. Last song before Virgin. First song on the album. On Wednesday (June 18), Erica Nichols, the manager of The Bluebird Cafe, posted a video where she addressed rumors that Olivia Rodrigo's team requested the removal of Taylor Swift photos when she performed at the intimate Nashville venue. "We did have a filming with Olivia Rodrigo here. Olivia's people did not ask us to remove an image of Taylor Swift. Nobody did,” Nichols clarified. “We removed an image of Taylor Swift that was in a position where the filming was taking place. When we have filmings, we are required legally to remove images that are under copyright. We don't own those images, so we cannot give permission for those images to be used in any kind of broadcast. That's the sole reason that the photograph was removed from the place it stood." In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Carly Simon defends Sabrina Carpenter's provocative and controversial artwork for her upcoming album, Man’s Best Friend. R. Kelly was rushed to the hospital over the weekend, claiming that he suffered an overdose caused by prison officials giving him a near-lethal dose of medication while in solitary confinement. "Bureau of Prisons officials administered an amount of medication that significantly exceeded a safe dose and caused Mr. Kelly to overdose, putting his life in jeopardy," reads the emergency motion court filing, which seeks Kelly’s release from prison due to fears for his safety. The incident caused Kelly to spend two days at a North Carolina medical facility. According to the court filing, the singer "takes medication for anxiety and to help him sleep, in addition to other medications.” Kelly and his lawyer are alleging mistreatment by prison staff, including denial of necessary medical treatment for blood clots in his legs and lungs. On Monday (June 16), G-Dragon announced North American and European dates on his 'Übermensch' World Tour. This ongoing series of live shows marks the K-pop superstar’s highly anticipated return to the stage after an eight-year hiatus, and will hit major markets including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Newark, and Paris this fall. The announcement comes after the Korean leg of the tour sold out instantaneously, with all 60,000 seats gone within seconds of going on sale. On Saturday (June 14), Remi Wolf creatively turned the cancellation of Bonnaroo into an unforgettable music experience at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, hosting a star-studded Superjam featuring surprise guests like Hayley Williams and Mt. On Friday (June 13), the Jonas Brothers announced the cancellation of six upcoming stadium concerts, opting to downscale their Jonas20: Living the Dream Tour to smaller venues on the same dates. Fans will need to purchase new tickets for the revised shows, but those who had tickets to the canceled concerts will receive immediate refunds, as well as priority pre-sale access to the new shows. The band's August 12 show at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., will now be at Jiffy Lube Live, while their August 14 gig at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia has been moved to the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. Their August 26 concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago will instead take place at the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in the suburb of Tinley Park, while their August 28 show at Comerica Park in Detroit will now happen at Little Caesars Arena. The festival made the official announcement on social media, writing: “Today, the National Weather Service provided us with an updated forecast with significant and steady precipitation that will produce deteriorating camping and egress conditions in the coming days. Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys and one of the greatest songwriters of all-time, has died at the age of 82. His family announced the news on Wednesday (June 11), writing on social media: “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. Wilson also produced, arranged, and composed the group’s 1966 creative masterpiece, Pet Sounds, which Rolling Stone placed at Number Two on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. That landmark album includes the standout track, “God Only Knows,” which Paul McCartney says is “the greatest song ever written.” Wilson earned two Grammy Awards, as well as an induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000, along with receiving the Kennedy Center Honors in 2007. On Monday (June 9), Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Three 6 Mafia announced the dates and details of their joint 2025 Thuggish-Ruggish-Mafia Tour of North America. The 24-date run will hit amphitheaters throughout the U.S. and Canada this summer and fall, and will feature special guest opening acts Tech N9ne and DJ Quik. The tour starts on August 21 in Rogers, Arkansas, stopping in cities including St. Louis, New York, Nashville, Dallas, and Houston, before concluding in Concord, California on October 4. All five members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony – Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone – will take part in the tour, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the rap group’s landmark 1995 album, E. 1999 Eternal. “We couldn’t have made it without YOU — so this tour is a celebration for ALL of us! 🎉,” the Cleveland hip-hop crew wrote on Instagram. On Tuesday (June 10), Karol G unveiled the cover art and release date of her upcoming album, Tropicoqueta, which is set to be released on June 20th. “Traveling the world with my last album, I kept asking myself the same question: ‘What’s the next step?'” the Grammy-winning singer captioned her post. “It wasn’t a matter of looking further, but of looking within.” Karol promises that her new record is a return “back to the roots, to the songs I grew up listening to, to the sounds that made me fall in love with music. Machine Gun Kelly has enlisted music legend Bob Dylan to help promote his new album. The 84-year-old icon narrates a trailer for MGK’s forthcoming record, Lost Americana, which is due out on August 8. This mark’s MGK’s first new album in three years, following 2022’s Mainstream Sellout, and is set to feature his recent single, “Cliché.” “Lost Americana is a personal excavation of the American dream – a journey to find what’s been lost,” Dylan says in the clip, describing the album as “a sonic map of forgotten places, a tribute to the spirit of reinvention, and a quest to reclaim the essence of American freedom.” The album trailer includes a brief snippet of new music, while featuring footage of MGK riding a motorcycle while wearing a Lost Americana biker jacket. “This is music that celebrates the beauty found in the in-between spaces,” Dylan concludes. “Where the past is reimagined and the future is forged on your own terms.” Earlier this year, Dylan inexplicably shared an old clip of MGK rapping on his social media, causing the 35-year old musician to respond, “That was so cool. On Friday (June 6), Taylor Swift was granted a temporary restraining order against Brian Jason Wagner, a 45-year-old man from Colorado, who has repeatedly showed up at her unlisted Los Angeles residence. In Swift’s petition to the court for the order, the pop superstar claimed that “During each of these visits, I am informed that Mr. Wagner made various statements about living at my property (not true), being in a relationship with me (not true), believing I am the mother of his son (not true), and needing to see me in person, all of which are untrue and disconnected from reality.” Wagner initially appeared at Swift’s home in July 2024, and has returned on multiple occasions, once “carrying a glass bottle that could have been used as a weapon,” while also trying to obtain her mail. Judge Debra R. Archuleta has ordered that Wagner stay at least 100 yards away from Swift, with the order in effect until June 30. (Rolling Stone)

Just after midnight on Saturday (June 7), Macklemore's Seattle home was burglarized by intruders who bear-sprayed his nanny. The thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, shoes, and luxury watches, all while the Grammy-winning rapper’s three children were sleeping inside the home. The burglars entered through a patio door and maced the nanny who was caring for the children and stole her phone, but she eventually bit one of the criminals and managed to escape to seek help from neighbors and call 911. Police eventually arrived at the scene after the burglars – whose identities were hidden behind face masks, gloves and tactical vests – fled the home. Authorities safely brought Macklemore’s kids, who were unharmed, to the care of another family member. Macklemore was performing in Ireland at the time of the robbery, and has not released an official statement about the incident as of yet. (Billboard)

Dan + Shay, John Stamos, Aaron Dessner, Alan Menken, Nile Rogers, and Living Colour are among the performers and presenters announced for the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Dinner. The gala will be held on Thursday (June 12) at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Dan + Shay have ties to major country hits from one of the night’s honorees, Ashley Gorley, while Stamos has performed with another honoree, Mike Love of The Beach Boys. Dessner is a frequent collaborator and producer for Gracie Abrams, who is set to receive Hal David Starlight Award during the ceremony,  while Menken has often collaborated with Stephen Schwartz, who is set to receive the Johnny Mercer Award. Additionally, the involvement of children of honorees, like Ashley’s daughter Sadie Gorley, and Rodney Jerkins’ kids Heavenly, Hannah Joy and Rodney Jerkins Jr., will add a personal touch to the star-studded evening. On Monday (June 9), FIFA announced that Doja Cat, Tems, and J Balvin will headline the halftime show of the Club World Cup final in New York City on July 13. The performance was curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and its mission to raise $100 million to improve access to education worldwide. “We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment — to celebrate football, feel the unity that music brings, and improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund,” Tems said in a press release. “I can’t wait.” The tournament, featuring 32 clubs from across the world, will take place across 12 venues in 11 U.S. cities throughout the summer. On Monday (June 9), Clipse announced the dates and details of their 2025 Let God Sort Em Out Tour, the reunited hip-hop duo’s first U.S. tour in 15 years. The 25-date run is in support of their highly-anticipated fourth studio album, Let God Sort Em Out, which is produced by fellow Virginia Beach native, Pharell. The forthcoming project represents the first joint record from rappers Pusha T and No Malice since 2009’s Til The Casket Drops, and it features the lead single, “Ace Trumpets,” which dropped two weeks ago. The tour will feature opening act Earthgang for the entire run, which is set to kick off on August 3 at Roadrunner in Boston, and includes stops in Philadelphia, New York, a hometown show in Virginia Beach, Miami, Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, and Chicago, before finishing on September 10 at the Masonic Temple in Detroit. Sly Stone, the groundbreaking musician who fused funk, rock, and soul with Sly & the Family Stone, died on Monday (June 9) at the age of 82. According to his family, the cause of death was due to a “prolonged battle with COPD and other underlying health issues.” Stone’s family shared that “Sly passed away peacefully, surrounded by his three children, his closest friend, and his extended family. While we mourn his absence, we take solace in knowing that his extraordinary musical legacy will continue to resonate and inspire for generations to come.” The family also revealed that Stone “recently completed the screenplay for his life story, a project we are eager to share with the world in due course.”

As the creative mastermind behind Sly & the Family Stone, he created hits like “Dance to the Music,” “Stand!,” “Everyday People,” “Hot Fun in the Summertime,” and “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin),” which unified diverse music fans and uplifted audiences around the world. Personal demons and years of drug abuse took a toll on Stone, who mostly disappeared from the public spotlight after multiple attempts to relaunch his music career failed to achieve his previous levels of success. Stone’s life and music reached a new generation of fans due to Sly & the Family Stone’s 1993 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and a 2006 tribute to them at the Grammy Awards.

(aka the Burden of Black Genius), reexamined Stone’s musical and cultural legacy, and featured musicians like George Clinton, Chaka Khan, D’Angelo, and Q-Tip crediting Sly with pushing the boundaries of contemporary music while having a profound  influence on their own sound. On Monday (June 9), the 2025 BET Awards celebrated their 25th anniversary, while also paying tribute to the past, present, and future of Black culture. The ceremony took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and was hosted by Kevin Hart. In addition to the multiple awards presented and the memorable live performances, the event also honored four recipients with the BET Ultimate Icon Award, which were given to Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg. The night also celebrated the rich history of the beloved music video countdown show, 106 & Park, by bringing together past hosts of the show while also featuring a medley of live performances by artists whose careers were boosted by appearing on the show.

There were plenty of high profile live performances during the event as well, including Lil Wayne, who just dropped his highly-anticipated new album, Tha Carter VI, on Friday. Mariah Carey, who also just released new music, performed during the ceremony, as did GloRilla, Teyana Taylor, and Playboi Carti. Kendrick Lamar was the most nominated artist of the night with 10 total nods, and the Compton rapper won Album of the Year for GNX, along with a handful of other awards that Hart gave him after his acceptance speech. Doechii won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, while SZA took home Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Leon Thomas won the coveted Best New Artist, and Chris Brown took home the Viewers Choice Award for his Grammy-nominated hit single, “Residuals.” (People)

Eric Church revealed in a Rolling Stone interview that he was inadvertently dragged into Taylor Swift's lengthy legal battle over a lyric from her 2014 hit, "Shake It Off." “In her deposition, when [talking about the line] ‘players gonna play, haters gonna hate,’ she says, ‘The first time I heard that phrase was in Eric Church’s song ‘The Outsiders,”” Church disclosed. “She was saying she never heard it on the [original song], which is what they were suing her for. And two weeks later, I got served by the people that were suing her!” Church recalls that he exchanged texts with Swift about the experience, “I was like, ‘Hey, thanks. Next time, let’s just skip that part?’ And she sent me a text: ‘I’m sorry. It’s the truth, though. That’s when I first heard that phrase.'” Swift’s lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed in late 2022, while Church went on to share that his own case has “since been settled.
