Rick Springfield made an appearance on the “Today” show yesterday, but let’s just say… it didn’t exactly start on the right note.

Before he even stepped onto the set, hosts Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Bush Hager, and Kaylee Hartung (filling in for Carson Daly) started belting out “867-5309/Jenny.” The only problem? That’s not a Rick Springfield song. It’s by Tommy Tutone.

And if that wasn’t enough of a miss, things got a little awkward during Rick’s live interview when host Craig Melvin let out a big yawn. Rick, ever the cool rock legend, called it out with a laugh: “Am I boring you?”

Melvin tried to recover by claiming it was a cough, but Springfield wasn’t fazed. “It’s early. Don’t worry about it. I’ll probably yawn too,” he replied with a smile.
